Habitat for Humanity

Wauwatosa Avenue United Methodist is proud of our long term mission to Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity providing decent affordable housing to low income families in the inner city. Once again we will be building a Habitat house in 2012. This being our 13th house since 2000, we will be partnering with Emmanuel Community United Methodist Church, Menomonee Falls for the sixth year along with St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish of New Berlin, St. Pius X & Christ King Parishes of Wauwatosa. We currently have 12 families living in their own homes due to the generous nature of our congregation. It brings our congregation joy seeing photos of these families standing in front of their homes after working 250 "sweat equity" hours on theirs and other Habitat homes to make ownership possible.

After framing our 13th house with Milwaukee Habitat during Framing Week Monday, June 18 working through Friday, June 22, we'll begin working on insulation, drywall, interior painting, installing flooring, & millwork on Saturdays from July through October. Even if you have no construction skills there's on the job training provided to help you in completing tasks for the day!

Volunteer opportunities for construction work & providing lunch to our workers each building day are always needed.

Should you have any questions about volunteering your construction skills, providing meals, or the fundraising effort please call Anne Neafie at 262.797.6562 or neafie@wi.rr.com.
